Summer Teen Library Intern
The Athena Public Library is seeking a motivated and friendly teen to serve as a Summer Library Intern. This position offers hands-on experience supporting library operations, with a primary focus on assisting with the Summer Reading Program. Start date June 16, 2025 and negotiable upon availability.
$14.25/hr up to 140 hours
Qualifications:
We’re looking for someone who:
1. Has strong interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Is friendly and welcoming to library visitors of all ages.
3. Enjoys working with children and has some related experience.
4. Has an interest in books, reading, and library services.
5. Pays attention to detail.
6. Can work independently and as part of a team.
7. Is open to learning new skills and asking questions when needed.
Responsibilities:
The intern will:
1. Assist with the Summer Reading Program, including prepping materials, helping with activities and crafts, setting up displays, and supporting staff during events.
2. Perform circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out.
3. Provide courteous, helpful service to the public and library staff.
4. Shelve returned materials and ensure proper organization.
5. Help with shelf reading and basic library upkeep.
6. Support other library projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
